Palomar Icon Laser & IPL Philadelphia PAThere are so many factors of aging that all chip away at our perfect “baby” complexions. Take a look at your baby pictures and see. You’ll notice no wrinkles, no sagging skin, and likely no scarring or marks (other than birth marks or scars from accidents). What has changed? Exposure to pollution and harmful UV rays, acne and all that comes with it, and lots of movement. All of these things (and other factors like genetics) come together to influence our complexion as we see it today. But there are some ways we can still improve our appearance with minimal downtime. Acne scarring in the form of hyperpigmentation (dark spots) is an unfortunate byproduct of acne. These dark patches make going without foundation out in public (for some of us) a scary idea. Hyperpigmentation results from melanin forming deposits under the skin. Hyperpigmentation can remain after acne fades. Age spots or “liver spots” are also a form of hyperpigmentation, though this form generally comes from prolonged exposure to the sun. How can you prevent hyperpigmentation? Use a good sunscreen every day. How can you get rid of hyperpigmentation after it’s taken up residence on your face? Keep reading.

Those little lines creeping in.

We love to laugh, but we don’t love the laugh lines that come along with it. Did you know that we can even sometimes tell which side of your face you sleep on by the little wrinkles in your face? Thankfully, you can minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with a chemical peel, or a series of peels. Keep those little lines at bay by revealing the smoother skin underneath. Depending on your specific skin concerns, you may want to consider a different treatment as recommended by our staff. A series of Dermapen treatments or laser treatments might be for you. If you’re interested in improving the appearance of your skin, give us a call at (610) 789-6701 and our trained staff can help you find the best treatment.
