By Posted on behalf of John J.W. Lee, MD, FACS

BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport are both used to relax the over active muscles in your face that cause frown lines, forehead wrinkles and crows feet. Both injections are nonsurgical cosmetic procedures that can enhance your natural beauty without undergoing facial plastic surgery.

BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport work by blocking the nerve signal to your muscles so that your muscles will not contract and cause lines on your face. Both are injected under your skin. Dysport is a slighter smaller molecule than BOTOX, so it will take more units of it to achieve the same effect as BOTOX. Pricing is set accordingly that the product needed for effective results cost the same at Dr. Lee’s office.

BOTOX and Dysport not only improves your appearance, but has also been shown to prevent new wrinkles and to help minimize existing wrinkles. Dysport has a higher dispersion rate and is considered a stronger toxin. Controlling the dispersion can be challenging so precise injections is needed for desired results. Patients who have stronger muscles and finds Botox to be ineffective like Dysport. Dysport usually results in a more effective treatment for people with strong facial muscles and is preferred to injections in the jaw area. The treatments generally last 3-4 months.

A common complaint with both injections is resulting heavy or droopy brows. This comes from injecting too much product, injecting into the wrong muscles on your forehead or brow. Since Dr. Lee focuses on brow lifts and facial plastic surgery, he has intimate knowledge of the forehead and the brow anatomy. Therfore Dr. Lee is confident that his patients will receive the best results from their Botox and Dysport injections. Dr. Lee believes that less is more in terms of enhancing your facial features, and he strives for natural looking results.
