Closeup Of Handsome Male Face With Black Marks On Skin Under Eye.After the past 18 months of seeing ourselves up close in endless Zoom meetings and Facetime calls, we’ve all done an inventory of our facial issues. If you’re over 40, one of your areas of irritation is likely your eyelids. Whether it’s due to the thin skin around our eyes and on our eyelids, or whether it’s because our eyes are constantly exposed to the elements — no one escapes sagging, drooping eyelids and the development of under eye bags.

Aging eyes shows no preference by sex, either.

Today, more and more men are choosing to have various cosmetic surgery procedures to rejuvenate their appearance. This is especially true for men who feel the need to compete with younger co-workers. A man’s eyes can really age the overall face and present a tired, older impression to others. Sagging eyelids and under eye bags and creases are all to blame.

Dr. Lee is a board-certified ophthalmologist who performs various eyelid procedures to fit the needs of the patient. He performs eyelid surgery for many male patients to rejuvenate their eyes, and the popularity of this procedure continues to increase with men.

Now that we’re into 2022, maybe it’s a good time to give your eyes a Happy New Year, guys. You’ll be in good company. Just check these stats.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, of a total of 2,295,722 cosmetic surgeries performed in the U.S. last year, men accounted for 289,360 of those, making up 13 percent of the total.

For men, the most popular cosmetic surgery was rhinoplasty, nose reshaping surgery, with 65,121. Second was eyelid surgery with 45,806 procedures. Cheek implant procedures were third at 28,638.

Reasons men want eyelid surgery

Everyone wants to look rested, alert, and attentive. Hooded, sagging eyelids and deep lines and bags beneath the eyes make a man look older, tired, and less engaged.

For men, eyelid surgery has obvious similarities between men and women — both want to remove excess skin and tighten underlying support muscles — but there are also differences. On the upper eyelid, men want the skin lifted off the eyelashes, but it can’t leave a hollow or feminized appearance. On the lower eyelids, men look to remove under eye bags and smooth the crease that often forms between the eyelid and the cheek.

These changes can take up to a decade off a man’s facial age. Plus, the eyes are usually the area of the face a person looks at first when initially meeting a person, so this procedure can really change the impression your eyes are making. Eyelid surgery with Dr. Lee can be a great procedure for men who need to interact at work with men and women who are years, even decades, younger than they are.

Eyelid surgery isn’t just for women. Dr. Lee performs blepharoplasty for men from all over the Philadelphia area. Give him a call at (610) 789-6701 and set up a consultation for your aging eyelids.
