For our patients who want to rejuvenate their brows, Dr. Lee has developed different methods for these procedures. Let’s get into them in this pre-Easter blog.
What Are the Goals of a Brow Lift?
A brow lift elevates the brows and the forehead. This is the procedure when a patient’s brows have descended to the point where they are presenting a tired, hooded countenance.
Different Brow Lift Methods
- Suture Brow Lift — Dr. Lee invented the Suture Brow Lift over a decade ago. He sought a method that was less invasive than an endoscopic brow lift. His suture method is effective for a moderate degree of lateral brow droop, but it cannot be used to lift the entire forehead. Dr. Lee passes a suture from the scalp to the lateral brow and back to the scalp. The suture is then tacked to the fascia tissue right under the muscle. The Suture Brow Lift achieves a natural lateral brow lift. It lifts the brow tissues that are commonly associated with heavy, drooping brows. This is common on the outsides of the upper eyelids.
- Endoscopic Brow Lift — An endoscopic brow lift elevates the entire forehead. The forehead skin is lifted off the bone and is brought up to a higher position. There it is secured to the skull. Dr. Lee no longer performs this method of brow lift because he feels the potential for complications is not worth the risk.
- Direct Brow Lift — Here an incision is made just above the eyebrow and an ellipse of tissue is removed. This method is effective, but it leaves a prominent and visible scar. It is only an option when a patient isn’t concerned about scarring. Dr. Lee uses the direct method for patients who have suffered trauma or have facial paralysis.
