Blepharoplasty, which is the technical term for upper eyelid surgery and lower eyelid surgery, creates a youthful, refreshed facial appearance by removing drooping, excess skin of the eyelid. Your eyes will look more alert and rejuvenated as a result of removing the fatty deposits and drooping skin.

The results of blepharoplasty are long-lasting. The skin and fat that is removed is removed permanently, but you can still experience some recurrence of fat deposits and possibly some droopiness. So, your blepharoplasty will permanently turn back the clock on eyelid droopiness, but it cannot stop the aging process over the decades.

If years or decades down the road you experience more drooping of the eyelids, you and Dr. Lee can work together to determine how your eyes can be rejuvenated. In many cases, the eyelids have become droopy again because the forehead and brow has begun to sag, pushing down on the eyelids. In these cases, a brow lift can often refresh the appearance of the eyes and brow.
