Get Intense with Your Skin Problems
At Bryn Mawr Facial Aesthetics Center, Dr. Lee is known for his expertise and experience with facial surgeries. But he is always looking to complement these procedures with non-invasive treatments that help our patients keep up with the havoc the aging process is wreaking on their facial skin.
To that end, Dr. Lee has added the Palomar Icon platform to his practice. The Palomar Icon is unusual in that it combines a fractional laser with intense pulsed light (IPL). This allows us to deliver a wide variety of non-invasive skin rejuvenation for our patients across the Bryn Mawr/King of Prussia area.
Here are the treatments we can perform with our Palomar Icon platform.
- Wrinkle reduction — Icon uses fractional laser technology to create thousands of microchannels in the treatment areas. This triggers a wound response in the skin, which creates new skin cells and new supplies of collagen.
- Stretch marks — Stretch marks also respond to the fractional laser treatment described above.
- Scars — By matching the Skintel Melanin Reader in the Icon system to the color of an unwanted scar, the Icon delivers precise amounts of fractional laser energy onto the scar tissue, breaking it down, and triggering new cell production to replace the overproduction of collagen that is scar tissue.
- Photo rejuvenation — The Icon’s IPL treatments deliver a wider range of light energy than the single wavelength of laser treatments. This is great for treating wider areas of pigmented spots and broken facial blood vessels. The IPL energy is absorbed by the melanin in the age/sun spots and it breaks up the melanin, and the body then sloughs off the pigmented skin. For blood vessels, the light energy causes the blood vessel walls to collapse, closing off and removing the small broken vessels.
- Spider veins — For unwanted spider veins on the legs, we match the Icon wavelength to the blue/purple/red color of the unwanted veins. The laser energy is absorbed by the blood in the vein, and it instantly converts to heat. This heat makes the vein walls collapse, closing off the vein. This instantly reduces the appearance, and the body finishes removing the veins over the next weeks.
- Hair removal — Our patients love how the Icon platform removes their unwanted hair permanently. The laser wavelength is set to match the color of the patient’s unwanted hair. Then the laser energy is delivered in short pulses. The melanin in the hair absorbs the light energy and it instantly converts to heat. The heat travels down the hair shaft into the hair follicle, destroying or damaging the follicle and precluding it from growing new hair in the future.
These are a few of the treatments we can perform with our Palomar Icon platform at Dr. Lee’s. If any of those treatments sound like something you could use, let’s talk. Call us at (610)789-6701 to make an appointment.
