Having a double chin can make you self-conscious and unhappy with your appearance. But now there’s a treatment available to deal with that pesky pocket of fat under your chin once and for all. KYBELLA™ is an FDA-approved, non-surgical treatment that effectively disrupts the fat cells that collect under the chin via liposuction in a needle. What is Kybella?

Kybella is deoxycholic acid, which is found naturally in the body. It is injected into the fatty tissue to destroy and dissolve fat cells. These cells are unable to accumulate fat anymore after the procedure. Two to four treatment sessions are recommended for the best results.

How is the procedure done?
Patients who undergo Kybella will have the fatty area numbed with a topical agent or an injection such as lidocaine, after which the numbed area is injected with Kybella.

What are the side effects?
You may experience some swelling, bruising and minor redness, which will go away after a week at the most.

Is Kybella painful?
Kybella is injected using a very tiny needle, so you may experience a burning sensation afterwards, which typically lasts about 15 minutes. Overall, the treatment is very safe and effective.

Am I a good candidate?
If you notice sagginess in your neck area and jawline, or if you see a double chin when you look straight on in the mirror or in profile, Kybella may be a great solution for you. The procedure works best if your body weight is normal and you haven’t had any prior surgery in the problem area.

How much recovery time will I need?
The treated area will be swollen and red for up to five days after treatment, during which you should take it easy before returning to work. Scheduling the procedure over a long weekend may be a good idea.
