Eyelid surgery (or Blepharoplasty) is the surgical removal of extra skin or fat under or above your eyes. An eyelid surgery procedure is typically done on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia and sedation. There are a couple of reasons why patients undergo eyelid surgery. It can be for either cosmetic reasons, or for more practical purposes. For example, in some cases, doctors recommend blepharoplasty for patients when the skin above their eyes interferes with their range of vision. This procedure can be done to either the top or lower eyelids, or as a combination, depending on your needs. No matter what type of eyelid surgery is performed, one thing is certain – it is one of the best ways to effectively refresh the appearance of not only your eyes, but your overall appearance.
